We have mixed three of our finest rices in almost magical proportions to give this hearty mix which is nourishing and healthy, and an ideal accompaniment for any meat, fish or salad dish. The three mixed rices are our “Yukon Gold” Organic Canadian Wild Rice, “Tuscan Sun” organic Italian short grain brown rice, and our “Riz d’lamour” Organic Camargue red rice.
AUTUMN BANQUET should be cooked in boiling water for about 40 minutes, adding salt to taste. When cooked, this boutique rice will have a lovely nutty taste and naturally chewy texture. It is a fabulous accompaniment dish served hot or cold.
AUTUMN BANQUET mixed rice is high in protein being second only to oats in content per 100 calories. It is a good source of fibre, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, Vitamin B6, and niacin. // ETHICS // We ethically source all our boutique rice from growers who do not use synthetic pesticides and herbicides which threaten insect populations, contaminate water sources and can have ecosystem-wide knock-on effects. We accept that rice is a carbon-intensive carbohydrate but not nearly as high as that generated by animal farming, and therefore more sustainable in terms of ensuring the welfare of our environment. When we accept a submission from a rice grower we consider carefully how the rice growing affects the surrounding animal husbandry.
